We hand-form our beefy patties in-house out of seitan (or a gluten free alternative) and soy.  Our homemade fried chkn seitan is triple dipped in buttermalk, breaded and deep fried.  And yes, absolutely everything on the menu is 100% vegan!

FRESH BAKES TUESDAY TO SUNDAY

The Tender Vegan Bakery is a 100% vegan bakery running out of V Rev's kitchens in Manchester's Northern Quarter, offering freshly baked plant-based treats all day every day except Mondays. We offer a changing selection of deliciously decadent flavours, toppings and fillings of:

  • donuts
  • cakes
  • baked cheezcakes
  • tray bakes
  • brownies
  • pies
  • cookies
  • ice creem sundaes

... to eat in or take out, as well as baking and assisting with components of V Rev's gluttonous savoury diner menu. Please note we are not health vegans: though our creations are free from dairy, eggs, gelatine, honey and all other animal products, we don't skimp on sugar, syrup, 'buttercream', 'cream', chocolate, and all the other good stuff!

As The Tender Vegan Bakery is currently a one person operation, I cannot currently accept custom orders, as keeping V Rev stocked is a full time job. Hopefully that will change soon, so keep an eye out!

ALLERGIES

I am trained in food hygiene and safety for catering, and follow FSA guidelines on working with the 14 major allergens. If you have other allergies falling outside of this list, please ask your server or contact us for confirmation of whether they are used in our bakery. We are vegan for animal rights reasons and as such we are not a "free from" bakery, though we do offer gluten free and soy free versions of many of our treats in the hope that this will make the vegan movement more inclusive.

'MAY CONTAIN TRACES'

I work in a kitchen which also handles celery, cereals containing gluten, lupin, mustard, nuts, peanuts, sesame seeds and oil, soya and sulphur dioxide (sulphites). Therefore, all our bakes contain or may contain traces of these allergens.

I also use products that advise they 'may contain traces' of dairy and egg as per The Vegan Society's guidelines. Indeed, I use many ingredients and products that have The Vegan Society's registered trademark but contain these warnings as The Vegan Society "does not claim that products registered with the Vegan Trademark are suitable for people with allergies", and this is the position I also adopt.

WHAT IS VEGANISM?

"Veganism is a way of living which seeks to exclude, as far as is possible and practicable, all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food, clothing or any other purpose." - The Vegan Society

YEAH, BUT WHAT DOES THAT MEAN THOUGH?

  • We don't eat meat (including gelatine), dairy (milk, cheese, whey), eggs and honey
  • We don't buy products made using materials like leather, silk and wool
  • We avoid cosmetics, toiletries and cleaning products that are tested on animals or contain ingredients like lanolin, beeswax and carmine
  • We look up E numbers in our food to see if they contain hidden animal products
  • We try to reduce our carbon footprint and recycle as much as we can
  • We oppose discrimination of all forms across all species (racism, sexism, ableism, ageism, homophobia, transphobia etc)
